Almost two years ago I desperately searched the Internet for any information I could find to help me cope with the journey of just having delivered my daughter Savannah early at 24 weeks. I stumbled upon Kaleenas blog Praying4mypreemie and my mission was accomplished! Her words, her emotion drew me in because our story was so similar. The test of our faith and our strength were so similar, in my mind, we were living parallel lives! Kaleena had and still has a way of capturing those gut wrenching emotions and moments that I can still feel to this day. Her words, her gift, her journey, keep me humbled because I never want to forget. I want to hold on to these memories forever because that's all I have left. See, my journey of my 24-weeker ended differently but my faith in God has not been swayed. Her poems continue to keep me encouraged including the one she personalized and dedicated to my world, my sweet Savannah. Kaleena, I appreciate you and thank you with every fiber of my being for your support! This book captures so elegantly what being a preemie parent can be! Not only does it describe the feeling of having a premature baby but all that comes along with it, including the NICU stay, coming home, a dad's perspective among so many other things. The author having gone through this journey herself knows many of the feelings that parents can feel going through this difficult journey of prematurity. I would recommend this book to all of my preemie parent friends. It can lift you up on a good day, and it can strengthen you on the bad seeing her sons journey. I would absolutely send this book to anyone struggling and for those who have come through the journey and are home.

My son was born at 24 weeks in November 2012. Kaleena describes the entire journey perfectly. I love reading the poems. It will bring such comfort to moms presently in the NICU. Perfect read for any premie mom or dad.

"My Body Betrayed Me" is by far my favorite poem. It's everything I've felt so wrong about feeling but the reality of it all is that those feelings are real. I thought I was the only one who thought that way but I'm not. I haven't even read half of these poems yet and I've already connected with everyone I've read. If you're a preemie mother, you'll understand. If you know a preemie mother, read this to understand everything she won't tell you about her emotions every step of the way.
Becoming a new mom is no easy task when a child is born healthy, a child born prematurely is that much less of an easy task yet your words show how love and faith can concur everything! Jr is just as Blessed as you and Jay are - he has both of you and an awesome support group. I pray that he continues to bring you lots of joy and admire the strength both of you have shown.
