Mike's grandfather disappeared years ago, leaving the family in desperate financial straits. Now, a trap door, a secret room, and an impossible message send Mike and his best friend off to find out what really happened.
Well written, plenty of suspence and danger. Buy this one for your kids!
What if other worlds are all around us, and at certain times, we can cross into them? Mike's grandfather disappeared 12 years ago, and was thought to have run out on several debts. His father has been struggling to raise Mike and pay off those debts, but is now in the hospital. How Mike and his best friend Amos find his grandfather and bring him home makes a fun, but still realistic tale. Good for anyone interested in alternate universe tales, but especially for boys. I plan on getting a copy to my grandson soon.
I must admit that I was skeptical the author could deliver a full story in light of what seemed like a low page count. I was wrong. The story is fully developed, the characters are real people, and the ending was good. I'll admit that I would have liked another dozen or so pages, or perhaps for this story to be turned into a full fledged novel, that could just be wanting more of a good thing.
